(Extract from) BUSINESS STRATEGY 2008-2013
STRATEGIC OBJECTIVES


During the period of this Plan, the Association will

1. Work towards improving its overall service to residents, through a structured implementation of customer-focused best value principles.

2. Remain independent of larger Registered Social Landlords (now Registered Providers) to ensure that there is opportunity for residents to benefit from the practical advantages of such status.

3. By means of a development strategy appropriate to (its) size, nature andfinancial circumstances, continue to participate in the provision of high quality and affordable additional general needs housing, primarily, but not exclusively, for rent in the Isle of Wight, in a way which clearly supports the objectives of the Local Authoritys Housing Strategy Statement.

4. Complete a project of programmed improvements to its properties which will contribute towards securing the Government's decent homes standards, long-term sustainability, and minimising responsive maintenance requirements and costs, all as part of an effective asset management strategy.

5. Continue to adapt to the changing profile of the Social Housing Sector, as perceived by those who (research and) regulate it, having regard to the identified interests of those who actually live as part of it. The involvement of residents to this end will be central to the objective, and encouraged whenever possible.

6. Develop an achievable financial model which will most cost effectively facilitate these objectives, conform with the requirements of the Housing Corporations (now Tenant Services Authority's) Regulatory Code, and retain the confidence of those institutions which have a financial interest in the Association.
